Hi Shea and Mercer! I was working on the documentary and was wondering if I could use the picture off of the Lily's Heroes website of you, Shea. Also would you like to read the draft of the narration for the documentary? Gabe from Lily's Heroes said that he would send your mom our email. Of course I will send you a copy of the movies. Jessie

Now, Mercer, I know you are only woofing about the cookies for you - to get them to you I would have to fight off Emily!!! Shea, can you tell us about your Christmas shopping - certainly only the things you want everyone in the world to know about, right!

Woof Jess,
I think it is pawsome that Jessie is doing a project on Shea, u should have her give out the blog address and we could track how many hits come as a result of her project. We could then post that information for her to report back to her class. They would have to woof that they were visiting as a result of a school project or something to let us know!

Woof Rose, you buy the cookies and don't take them, u r a saint! I wish more people would do that and send them to me! Okay, okay, only woofing with u but it is a gr888888 idea and so kind!
Paws 2 u 4 now,

Jess,
I am so honored you are doing a project on me! Thank-you, I am touched. If you need to ask any questions please don't hesitate! Nope, no snow yet, there was a chance but it looks like it will be a couple more weeks. I did go Christmas shopping today though, that always gets me so excited!!!
Love to all, God Bless you,

What a neat thing, Jessie, doing a documentary on Shea and Mercer. A few flakes mixed with rain at our house last night...carmel cookie sounds good....most of the time we just 'buy' the cookies from whichever local troup we come upon and don't them home....that way they can sell our boxes again! Cheers to all.

Hi Everyone. Hope you're all staying warm. We had 70s the other day and then down to 40s last night. Will be 32 tomorrow night, but no snow here. Have you gotten snow yet, Shea and Mercer? We just finished reading your books. They are wonderful. Ver clever. We went to our Girl Scout cookie training on Saturday and our sale will start the 9th of January. The new cookie this year is carmel. It is very sweet. Not for me. Probably not for Mercer either. Holly, your trip sounds wonderful. We love the Pirates ride also. Rose, you always come up with neat trivia stuff. Jessie's working on lots of different school projects. The teachers are loving projects for some reason. Never a dull moment here. If it's ok with you, Shea and Mercer, Jessie is doing a short documentary on you for her technology class. She wants to share with everyone all the good work you both do. Hope that's ok. And of course, we'll be sure to send you a copy. Stay warm. Hugs, Jess

Woof Rose, so pawsome to bark at u!
Wow, what woofderful information on John Hancock. You are right too. Hancock's most distinctive contribution to the rebel cause was the money. He was a merchant who had inherited a fortune from his smuggler uncle. He used his wealth to help finance the revolution. He is best remembered, now, for his large signature on the Declaration of Independence in 1776. As he signed the Declaration, it is thought, he said "If I am to be accused of treason against the crown, I want them to be able to read my name!" After the war, Hancock became governor of Massachusetts

Hi Mercer....still trying to answer some of your wonderful Revolutionary War questions....come on fellow bloggers let's pitch in....I did learn that there were actually several presidents of the Continental Congress and John Hancock was the 3rd president of the 1st Continental Congress....I think the answer to your question of why he earned his place is that In 1768 his sloop Liberty was impounded by customs officials at Boston Harbor, on a charge of running contraband goods. A large group of private citizens stormed the customs post, burned the government boat, and beat the officers, causing them to seek refuge on a ship off shore. Soon afterward, Hancock abetted the Boston Tea Party.

Oh and Hi to Hannah - we are glad you are here on the Blog.

Wow, Mercer....you've set a challenge with all those interesting questions....I will have to wake up Sylvia and Emily and get them working......love Jessie's trivia site....will take home for my husband to answer since he is the Civil War buff....I do know the answer to question 6 - John Adams/Thomas Jefferson/John Jay.
Question 4- Molly Pitcher was really Mary Hays McCauly and was with her husband at Valley Forge - now why was she called Molly Pitcher and where is Valley Forge.....

Woof Rose, I did see the John Adams series, it was pawtastic. Did you see the Series on the American presidents? Another pawsome history channel series! I could do a lot of trivia on the Revolutionary War era and I will woof some questions like this one: 1.On what hill did the Battle of Bunker Hill take place?
2. What did John Hancock (1737-93) do to earn his place as president of the Continental Congress?
3. How many grievances against the king were named in the Declaration of Independence?
4.Who was Molly Pitcher?
5.How many countries did the British fight during the American War of Independence?
6.Who were the (3) American diplomats who negotiated the treaty that ended the Revolutionary War?

Another favorite is the Civil War period and Jess just sent in a woofderful site filled with trivia, do check it out:
http://www.gettysburgaddress.com/HTMLS/triviaQ.html
you will have to cut and paste this site!
Woof Jess, I hope when you all get to see all the videos at the end of the year, you will get a copy to share!
Well now everyone. . . I hope you are having a Pawtastic November and looking forward to Thanksgiving!
Paws 2 u 4 now,

Happy Veterans Day Everyone. Well, it's almost over anyway. We have a Veterans park and it was filled with flags. They added a new garden area where they put a life sized horse that has an American Flag painted on it. Pretty neat. Jessie's group presented their Veterans video today. The parents don't get to see the videos so I can't tell you how it went. At the end of the year, we get to see them. Shea, I found a whole site of Civil War trivia for you, if you've never seen it. http://www.gettysburgaddress.com/HTMLS/triviaQ.html
Getting ready for the Science Fair. This year's project, Jessie is testing moisture retention of some natural foods and comparing them to commercial moisturizers. Last year, she tested only commerical ones and of all the expensive moisturizers, baby oil helped to retain moisture better than all of the others. That was very interesting. Mercer, almost time to get your ice skates ready. We've had some COLD nights. Stay warm. Hugs to you both, Jess

Happy Veterans Day to everyone...Jessie - I hope everyone appreciates what we know will be great job with your video. Shea - I think you are really interested in Astronomy - planets, constellations, space, etc not astrology (the zodiac) right? Wow Revolutionay period - now there's a whole chance for lots of quizzes from Mercer....everyone we better get our history books ready!!! Has anyone seen the John Adams series - gosh that was soo good. Ciao for now!

Thanks, Hannah, you are very sweet and pretty awesome yourself!
Hey Jessie, good luck on Tuesday! I love the Revolutionary period, too, but then again I love all history so much. I love astrology and life science, too. I guess you could say I'm just fascinated with learning!
Happy Veterans Day tomorrow! God Bless those heroes!
Love and prayers,
Shea

Hi Shea and Mercer! Sorry I have not been able to write. There has been so much homework!! I am glad you liked the Oreo videos. No Mercer, I am not in any collage program or mini collage program, the teachers just like giving us homework. It took a while to find all the information for the candidate paper and make sure it was true.I didn't win the election at school. I agree completely about no war is a good war, but I still love the Revolutionary Period because of all the events that happened to cause our country's freedom. I like the new movie from Disney, Enchanted. I love how they do from animation to the real world. Happy Late Halloween! <3 Jessie!

Hey Jess,
Yup, we are doing well, thanks. Kind of busy but, that's a good thing by my eyes! We are doing some tutoring, have a Marvelous Mercer meeting tomorrow to schedule some book talks, and am trying to keep my physical therapist happy!
On Halloween, I went out for about an hour, I was a lion. It was so fun and we got scared pretty badly by one of the neighbors in a scary mask! He popped out of nowhere and started to loom towards us! It was so fun! Unfortunately, the kid 4 years younger than me didn't think it was fun! We didn't take Mercer, it was too much for him, but he greeted the kids at the door with Mommy. Daddy went out with me as always, it is our tradition! I hadn't been that happy in a long time!
Max's birthday wasn't very different from any other day because, to Max, everyday is his birthday! But we treated him nicely!
Well, I need to get back to my search for Mr. Ford's address. You see, I wrote to him and President Bush. I wrote President Bush to thank him for his years in service to us before Senator Obama comes into office as President. But, it is Mr. Ford that is impossible to get a decent address for! I mean for Mr. Bush, the address is 1800 Pennsylvania Avenue, the White House, a piece of cake! But, Ford? Noooooooo. I have to look all over the place and there is at least 10 different addresses. C’mon, is it really worth it??? Well, yes, it is, but still this is a pain in the neck.
Enough complaining, Shea, I know LOL.
Alright blogging friends have a super day!
Oh, BTW, who saw the acceptance speech by Mr. Obama?
Hugs and God Bless to all of u,
Shea

Hi Shea and Mercer how R you guys lately?
Re: It's NOVEMBER
11/05/08 01:11pm | by Mercer

Woof, I'm going to give u a break on the "space" dogs. The names of the first dogs to go into space and return safely were, Belka and Strelka. These dogs went into space with a grey rabbit, 42 mice, and 2 rats. Before they went into space 2 dogs named Lisa and Ryzhik were sent into space but sadly, did not return. There were about 10 dogs that made space flights, several of them made more than 1 flight, before humans were sent into space by the Soviet Union.
Dogs have been part of history since the beginning of time.

Happy belated Birthday Max. Hope you got a nice chewy toy for your special day.

Hi Shea and Mercer. How are you doing? We're always so busy here. Glad you got the package and enjoyed the videos. She's a beginner but she's pretty good since I don't know how to do any of that. LOL. The project she took to school today was a Element Baby Book. She had to do a scrapbook on an element, like it was a baby. A real scrapbook. It was a lot of work. Her element was Neon, so that was a good one to do. Today they will announce the results from the Student Council elections. Keep your fingers crossed. :) What did you do for Halloween and Max's birthday? Take care, Hugs, Jess

Re: It's NOVEMBER

Static electricity - gracious; didn't think of that....does that mean we can be conductors of eletricity - if we plugged our tails into an outlet would we turn on a lamp! Goodness....we're heading back under the bed!
Re: It's NOVEMBER

Woof Emily and Sylvia,
It may be because of the amount of static electricity carried in your fur!

Woof Rose, what a GR8888888 job with the trivia questions I asked! I will have to come up with more questions! Hey bloggers, give Rose a hand with these questions, can anyone find the name of the 2 dogs that traveled in space?

Yes, Holly tell us the date of your birthday! As u can see I love singing the "birthday" song!

Oh yes - 11th second of the 11th minute of the 11th hour of the 11th day of the 11th month - WWI ended - it was also called Armistice Day and in England is called Remembrance Day and everyone wears a red Poppy.

Hi Holly Diamond - when is your birthday so all of us on the Blog can woof or meow you a birthday shoutout?

Re: It's NOVEMBER

Only for sure that I can identify is Laika - but the date of her flight seems to have later than 1957....you've got me on this Mercer.
