Ireland in my Mind!!

FIRST of all, I don't want to take away from the fun quiz below, so don't forget to scroll down and check that out too! I think I'll have aced it since I loved digging through St. Patrick and Irish books ever since last year. Anyway, on with the post!
So I'm Irish. Very Irish. And today is the one day where I fully embrace my heritage and almost feel a longing to go back to my roots...the sea never being more than an hour away in Ireland...the flocks and shepherds...the pubs...churches...cottages....cozy knit sweaters and delicious comfort food. I know I'm not alone! LOL
Let me do my best to take you to Ireland...if only in our minds.
I was at this concert. It was simply phenomenal...they don't call him the boss for nothing! But this song quite literally pounds you right back to the Emerald Isle. God bless the Irish, so great!

My Great Great Great Grandfather John, and his brother Edward, came from Ireland to America when the potato famine hit. They left their homeland behind for the brave journey to a new beginning. I can only imagine how hard it must've been for the rest of the family, and to leave it all behind.
They arrived during the Civil War. John moved to New York to start his new life. Edward ventured south. Then, the war raged and citizens were being drafted. John was paid by a wealthy man to go to war in his place for him. John fought for the North. Edward fought for the South. Brother versus brother at its truest.
They never met until the day John found out Edward was imprisoned by the Union. He freed him and put him on a ship back to the South. As irony would have it, that ship sank on the way back....quite the story, huh.
So let's not forget our roots! I'm raising my Kilians (kidding Mercer...) to an Irish blessing!
May the road rise up to meet you.
May the wind always be at your back.
May the sun shine warm upon your face,
and rains fall soft upon your fields.
And until we meet again,
May God hold you in the palm of His hand.
And yes. I will be wearing my flashing green shamrock necklace and singing Danny Boy all day. You know me!! lol.
Happy Saint Patrick's Day everyone. The famous dream called him to Ireland. Let that dream of calling be with you today.
Erin Go Bragh! :-)
